Riviera Romagnola does not use cookies: its pages do not set them and contain no advertising profiling tools. The site saves two types of data in browser storage: a random identifier for internal visit statistics and a copy of weather forecasts. Unlike cookies, local storage does not automatically accompany every request to the server: the identifier reaches the site only with the visit data sent by the statistics script. The statistics identifier
Visit statistics are collected by a script hosted on the site's server and recorded on the same server, without external analytics services. On the first visit, the script saves the entry “_rr_vid” in local storage, a random code with no expiry date: it distinguishes returning visitors from first-time visitors and contains no name, email address or location.
Two other entries are kept in session storage, which the browser clears when the tab closes. “_rr_sid” is the random code for the current visit. “_rr_ads” appears only when the incoming link contains campaign parameters, such as utm_source or gclid, and retains them to attribute subsequently opened pages to the same campaign. The data recorded on the server and their retention periods are described in the privacy policy.
Forecasts stored in the browser
The site saves two entries in local storage: “weather_cache_v2_forecast”, containing weather forecasts, and “weather_cache_v2_marine”, containing sea conditions, each with the time it was saved. This copy allows previously available forecasts to be displayed when a new request to Open-Meteo fails. It contains no visitor identifier and does not use the device's location: the coordinates are fixed for the resorts covered by the guide.
The backup copy is used for up to six hours after it is saved. It is not automatically deleted when the six hours expire: it remains in local storage until a new forecast replaces it or it is removed through the browser.
Why there is no consent notice
The two weather entries serve only a technical function linked to the service displayed on the pages: they do not identify visitors and are not used for advertising. The statistics entries measure use of Riviera Romagnola in aggregate form and for this site alone: the IP address is truncated before recording, the data are not combined with other data and are not used for advertising.
Under the Linee guida del Garante su cookie e altri strumenti di tracciamento del 10 giugno 2021, technical tools and statistical tools with these characteristics require an information notice but not consent. The site therefore does not display a cookie notice.
Removing the data
The browser settings allow the deletion of data stored for rivieraromagnola.net, including local storage. The option may be labelled site data, storage, or cookie and data management. A subsequent visit creates a new statistics identifier and, if the service responds, a new copy of the forecasts.
Blocking local storage prevents recognition of subsequent visits and retrieval of previously saved forecasts. The guide's pages remain accessible; weather display also depends on the availability of the external service.
External services
On pages displaying the weather (the home page, resort pages and, on screens at least 768 pixels wide, the top bar of all pages), the browser requests forecasts from Open-Meteo. This request goes to the service's servers and is separate from saving data in local storage: the data transmitted and links are described in the privacy policy. The page fonts and statistics script are hosted on the site's server.
The Garante also publishes an explanation of cookies and other tracking tools. If advertising or other services are added to the site, the information notice will be updated before they are activated.
