Free beaches in Cesenatico

Cesenatico's free beaches are spread between Zadina, Ponente, Levante, Valverde and Villamarina. Tamerici and Zona Cesarini offer facilities absent from small stretches between beach establishments. For a day by the sea, the first distinction is therefore between free access without on-site services and a free beach with facilities.

Locations

Streets and recognisable seafront landmarks help locate access points. Piazza Andrea Costa below the Grattacielo is the central reference point; in Ponente, the harbour and holiday-colony area are the landmarks, while Villamarina lies at the southern end of the coast.

Tamerici and Zona Cesarini: two different arrangements

Tamerici beach in Valverde was created in 2012. Plants in buried pots were chosen to shade the sand; the municipal portal also describes changing cabins, showers and bicycle storage. The project uses vegetation as part of the beach rather than simply reproducing rows of parasols.

Zona Cesarini is in Villamarina, on Viale Carducci level with Via Galilei. The official entry lists shade tents, two beach volleyball courts, a children's area, showers and toilets. It also includes an animal area and a wheelchair for disabled people to enter the water.

Swimming with dogs: summer 2026 and winter

From 3 November 2026 to the Friday before Easter 2027, Cesenatico is in the winter period: the regional animal ban applies only during the summer season, and ordinanza comunale 145/2026 sets no winter rules for dogs on the beach.

During the 2026 summer period, until 2 November, the regional ordinance prohibited animals on the beach except rescue dogs, guide dogs and dogs accompanying disabled people. The municipal ordinance allowed dogs on the shoreline via free beaches from 6am to 8.30am and 7pm to 10pm, with swimming in the water areas marked by orange buoys off Piazza Andrea Costa, Tamerici, Zona Cesarini, Diamanti, Spose dei Marinai and some stretches of Valverde and the Ponente holiday colonies.

Two stretches had longer hours, 6am-10pm: Zadina near Canale Tagliata and Ponente beyond the sailing club. Conditions were registration with the dog registry, vaccinations, a non-retractable lead no longer than one and a half metres, and picking up dog waste.

Lifeguard cover and accessible services

The Comune organises lifeguard cover on free areas through collective plans. The regional ordinance makes it compulsory from the third weekend in May to the third in September: 16 May to 20 September in 2026. Free beaches have no lifeguard in other months.

The municipal portal also describes assistance into the water and wheelchairs supplied by beach operators, to be arranged with them.

Sea and access points from town

For 2026, seven Cesenatico bathing waters are classified as excellent and one as good; swimming is prohibited in the canal harbour and river mouths. Any temporary bans appear on the Arpae bathing-water portal.

Piazza Andrea Costa provides access to the central coast; Via Colombo serves Ponente, and Viale Carducci Levante, Valverde and Villamarina. Connections from the station appear in the Cesenatico guide. The Cesenatico beach guide compares the five areas and their relationship with the centre, pinewood and seafront.
