Gabicce Mare

Where to eat in Gabicce Mare

Gabicce Mare is in the Marche, beside Cattolica and on the border with Romagna. Its cuisine reflects this position: Adriatic fish and dishes shared along the coast accompany produce from the Marche. The harbour, streets near the beach and Gabicce Monte offer different settings for a meal.

Seafood cooking

Clams, seafood first courses, grilled fish and fried fish are among the coast's dishes. The harbour on the Tavollo, shared with Cattolica, retains its connection with fishing: on the Romagna bank, the cuisine of Cattolica adds bizulà and miacetto.

Brodetto is a fish stew found along the Adriatic, with recipes varying between resorts. The harbour offers a setting for combining dinner with a walk along the canal. The area near the beach, by contrast, keeps a meal close to the route of a day by the sea.

Between Romagna and Marche cooking

Piadina and fresh pasta are also found in Gabicce, which nevertheless lies outside the production area of Piadina Romagnola IGP, ending at the Marche border. Cappelletti and passatelli are among the dishes shared by neighbouring areas, while cured meats, cheeses and other meat-based and inland dishes extend the choice beyond fish.

The Marche adds specialities such as Casciotta d'Urbino DOP and produce from its inland areas, alongside Marche IGP extra virgin olive oil and wines from the Pesaro area.

Sangiovese and Colli Pesaresi DOC wines connect a meal with the hills. The excursions from Gabicce cover destinations beyond the coast, among villages and the San Bartolo landscape.

A meal at Mare or Monte

Gabicce Mare offers places to stop near the harbour, beach and central streets. Gabicce Monte provides a different setting with its elevated position and viewpoints. Walkers by the sea can stay in the lower town; dinner at Monte requires arrangements for the outward and return journeys.

An evening between harbour and centre

A stop on the Tavollo can continue along the quays; in central Gabicce, Piazza Municipio and the pedestrian streets link a meal with an evening walk.

Gabicce Mare events lists recurring celebrations; the guide to entertainment in Gabicce Mare helps combine a meal with walks and shows in the resort.
