Sport in Cattolica

The seafront and Conca mouth are two starting points for sport in Cattolica. By the sea are sand courts and organised water activities; inland, terrain changes from riverside routes to Valconca village climbs. The main competitions are concentrated in May and September.

Beach, swimming and walks

Beach tennis and beach volleyball take place in equipped areas of establishments. Sailing, windsurfing, SUP and canoeing operate through schools and sailing clubs using sea access corridors.

For waterside walking or running, Lungomare Rasi Spinelli, Piazza Primo Maggio and the harbour area are recognisable landmarks. The walk can continue towards the Tavollo and Gabicce Mare boundary.

The choice of coastal stretch and services is explored on the Cattolica beach page.

Cycling along the Conca

The Conca area links coast and countryside. Bankside routes suit a mixed-surface outing with a bicycle suited to dirt tracks.

Valconca also offers road itineraries and mountain bike loops. The Unione dei Comuni portal publishes routes with downloadable tracks, giving distances, elevation gain and bicycle type: a riverside route and a loop climbing to castles require different preparation and times.

Destinations towards San Giovanni in Marignano, Saludecio and Montefiore Conca are gathered in excursions from Cattolica. Gabicce Monte and Panoramica del San Bartolo also introduce climbs, just beyond the regional border.

Town facilities

Stadio Calbi is the main football ground. On Via Carpignola, the new Palazzetto dello Sport, handed to operators on 22 September 2026, hosts basketball, volleyball and other indoor disciplines alongside events and conferences. The municipal pool on Via Francesca da Rimini, with a 25-metre pool and a beginners' pool, has been refurbished since June 2026 without closing to the public. Parco della Pace adds outdoor activity spaces.

Facilities have opening times and access conditions set by operators and the clubs using them.

Competitions and events

May has the most competitions. In mid-May, Granfondo Squali, an amateur cycling race shared with Gabicce Mare, starts at the Acquario and finishes in Gabicce Monte, with road routes and a dirt-track event: its 11th edition ran from 15 to 17 May 2026. Around those weeks, the beach hosts Inferno Beach, an obstacle race (9 and 10 May 2026), and the sea off the harbour hosts Oceanman, an international open-water swimming race (23 and 24 May 2026).

In mid-September, Parco della Pace hosts Festa dello Sport, with around thirty associations offering trials of their disciplines: in 2026, it took place on 13 September.

On 5 and 6 January 2027, Cattolica hosts the Italian youth cyclocross championships on a route between the beach and the banks of the Conca, at the Misano Adriatico boundary. The events in Cattolica page gathers other annual events.
