Free beaches in Misano Adriatico

The three free beaches organised by Comune di Misano Adriatico are at Piazzale Venezia, Piazzale Roma and Parco Mare Nord. The latter has its own facilities; the other two access points are small stretches of the town beach. All three have lifeguard cover in summer.

Locations and size

Municipal measures for 2026 give the three areas a combined sea frontage of just over 99 metres, measured along the coast.

Parco Mare Nord: the beach with its own facilities

The Parco Mare Nord free beach is the one with toilets, gazebos and showers listed by the Comune. In summer, part of the area is reserved for schools and summer activity centres.

Piazzale Roma and lifeguard cover

The flagpole in Piazzale Roma is the reference point specified by ordinanza comunale 83/2026 for beach establishments to follow the flag colour. Its central location makes the access identifiable from the Misano Mare seafront walk.

The three beaches are covered by collective lifeguard plans, compulsory under the regional ordinance from the third weekend in May to the third in September: from 16 May to 20 September in 2026. They have no lifeguard in other months.

South of the Rio Agina, groynes divide the coast into compartments. This layout requires organised posts to maintain sightlines across the different areas of water, as explained in the guide to Misano Adriatico beach.

Dogs: beach establishment areas and free stretches

The three free areas are not animal beaches. Ordinanza comunale 61/2023 allows dogs to swim only in front of authorised beach establishments, passing through their designated area, each year from the Saturday before Easter to the last Sunday in October. Hours are dawn to 7.30am and 7.30pm to sunset; stopping or walking along the shoreline is prohibited.

The regional ban on animals applies during the summer season, until 2 November, and does not cover rescue dogs, guide dogs or dogs accompanying disabled people. From 3 November to the Saturday before Easter, the regional ban does not apply, and the Comune's ordinances set no rules for dogs on the beach.

Bathing waters and local bans

For 2026, Misano Adriatico's four bathing waters are classified as excellent; swimming is prohibited in Portoverde harbour and the mouth of the Conca. Any temporary bans appear on the Arpae bathing-water portal.

Connections along the coast

Via Litoranea Nord serves Parco Mare Nord and the northern section; Piazzale Venezia and Piazzale Roma identify the other access points. The seafront allows travel along the coast, while Start Romagna bus 125 links Misano Mare with Riccione and Cattolica. Travel information from the station appears in the Misano Adriatico guide.

Beyond the municipal boundaries are the free beaches in Riccione and free beaches in Cattolica, with different dog areas and facilities.
