Events in Cervia

Events in Cervia tell two sides of the town's story: the sea, with Sposalizio del Mare and summer festivities, and salt, at the heart of September events. Activities are spread across the Comune's resorts: Artevento brings kites to Pinarella beach, Tuffo della Befana takes place in Tagliata, and concerts and central festivities in Piazza Garibaldi.

When the main events take place

The year begins with Befana on the beach and ends with festive lights in the centre; the busiest season runs from late April to September.

Artevento on Pinarella beach

Artevento is the Festival Internazionale dell'Aquilone. Pinarella beach hosts kites and activities between late April and early May: in 2026, the festival ran from 23 April to 3 May.

The event takes place on the Pinarella coast, south of the centre and far from Piazza Garibaldi.

Sposalizio del Mare and the floral exhibition

Sposalizio del Mare is the festival combining ceremonies in the centre with the ring ritual at sea. The timing varies between May and early June: the 2025 edition ran from 30 May to 1 June, and the 2026 edition on 16 and 17 May.

Cervia Città Giardino brings floral displays to public spaces in all four of the Comune's resorts from late May to September: the 2025 edition opened on 28 May, and the 2026 edition on 27 May. Installations are spread across Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella and Tagliata. The neighbouring resort's music series are covered on the Milano Marittima events page.

Summer music and beach festivities

CinemaSuono combines screenings and live music in Piazzale dei Salinari. Cervia Summer Festival presents concerts in Piazza Garibaldi; Notte Rosa follows the regional programme.

San Lorenzo centres on 10 August, with activities in the centre and fireworks on Cervia's free beach in the 2025 and 2026 editions. The Ferragosto dawn concert took place on the same beach on 15 August, while Ferragosto con gli autori brings literary meetings to Torre San Michele.

These events in central Cervia are also for those staying in Milano Marittima, across the canal harbour. The entertainment in Cervia page explores evening activity venues in more detail.

September: salt and triathlon

Sapore di Sale is the festival devoted to salt-making culture, with activities around the canal harbour, Piazzale dei Salinari and Magazzini del Sale. The 2025 and 2026 editions took place in early September. Salt from the salt pans is covered on the Cervia salt pans page.

Ironman Emilia-Romagna and Ironman 70.3 Emilia-Romagna bring triathlon to Cervia on the third weekend in September: from 17 to 20 September in 2026, with the long-distance race on Saturday and the 70.3 on Sunday. The swim starts in the sea, the cycle route crosses the salt pan and reaches Bertinoro, and the marathon runs between Cervia and Milano Marittima; preceding days include a non-competitive night run and a children's run on the beach.

The racing season begins earlier, between late March and early April, with Cervia Run and Granfondo Via del Sale on Lungomare Deledda: dates and editions are on the sport in Cervia page.

Autumn events and winter festivities

In October, the Comune dedicates Voci per la Pace to peace and rights, with talks, exhibitions, cinema and shows: the first edition was in 2025, and the second runs from 4 to 24 October 2026, with venues and dates in the Comune programme.

Over the Halloween weekend, activities take over central Cervia. The feast of San Paterniano, Cervia's patron saint, falls on 13 November.

Christmas and New Year's Eve bring festive lights, markets and shows back to the squares: in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 editions, the programme ran from late November to 6 January. Central Cervia and Milano Marittima have separate activities.

At Epiphany, Pasquella takes place in Piazza Garibaldi. On 6 January, Tagliata beach traditionally hosts Tuffo della Befana, with family activities on surrounding days too: in 2026 it took place on 6 January, and for 2027 it has been announced for Wednesday 6 January. Other family activities are on the Cervia with children page.

Finding the programme for the right resort

The Comune di Cervia tourism portal allows event searches by month and resort. Each listing specifies whether an event is in Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella or Tagliata; Comune news communicates changes and programmes. Comparison with other towns is available in Riviera events.
