Milano Marittima

Free beaches in Milano Marittima

The free beach listed by the Comune in Milano Marittima is level with Viale Forlì, between beach establishments 268 and 269. The official entry lists showers and toilets; in summer, the beach is supervised and has a lifeguard service. The stretch in front of the former Colonia Varese, further north, is instead a protected dune set aside for renaturalisation.

Viale Forlì access

Viale Forlì and the beach establishment numbers identify the passage to the sand. The free beach is a stretch between beach establishments with no admission charge, where parasols and seating are brought from home.

Facilities and seasonal service

Showers and toilets are the facilities attributed by the municipal portal to the Viale Forlì access.

Lifeguard cover follows the calendar for the entire Cervia coast: the regional ordinance makes it compulsory from the third weekend in May to the third in September, from 16 May to 20 September in 2026. There is no lifeguard on the beach in other months.

The natural stretch at the former Colonia Varese

Between XIX Traversa and XXII Traversa, the Comune protects a dune environment. The dune retains coastal vegetation and habitats and has undergone fencing work since 2024. It is set aside for renaturalisation: parasols and sun loungers must not be installed, and signs and boundaries mark the area. The dune environment is described in the guide to Milano Marittima beach.

Applicable rules

Milano Marittima is in Comune di Cervia and follows its bathing regulations. The municipal portal notes free passage along the shoreline and the ban on leaving equipment on the free beach after sunset.

For dogs, the winter bathing season runs from 3 November to the Saturday before Easter: the regulations published by the Comune allow them on the beach at any time, on a non-retractable lead and wearing a muzzle, with registration in the dog registry, vaccinations and collection of droppings. In summer, the regional ordinance instead prohibits animals on the beach, except rescue dogs, guide dogs and dogs accompanying disabled people. The guide to Cervia's free beaches describes access south of the harbour.

Bathing waters and connections

Milano Marittima's three bathing waters are classified as excellent for 2026; swimming is prohibited in harbours and river mouths. Any temporary bans appear on the Arpae bathing-water portal.

The Milano Marittima guide covers travel from Cervia-Milano Marittima station and finding the way between the centre, side streets and pinewood. The pedestrian and cycle seafront connects the coastal access points.
