Free beaches in Bellaria Igea Marina

Bellaria Igea Marina's free beaches are all on the Igea Marina side, south of the canal harbour. The nearest free beach to Bellaria is beside the pier: the Comune lists no free stretches north of the harbour. The choice is between Parco Pavese, with more services, the harbour stretch and the small spaces in the former holiday colony area.

Parco Pavese: the stretch with more services

Access is from 227 Viale Pinzon, opposite Parco Pavese. The Comune lists toilets, showers, beach volleyball areas and step-free access. It is the most useful reference point for a free beach with facilities on site.

The sand leads directly to the park's green space. On the same stretch of shore there is also an area under concession for events, separate from the free beach.

Canal harbour: access from the Capitaneria forecourt

From 1 Viale Pinzon, by the Capitaneria forecourt, the free stretch on the Igea Marina side of the harbour can be reached. The Comune listing specifies benches and step-free access: more limited facilities than at Parco Pavese. Swimming is prohibited off the harbour entrance.

Former holiday colonies: small spaces along Viale Pinzon

Further south, between Via Giovanni Bianchi, Via Michele Rosa and Via Augusto Murri, the 2026 municipal plans identify four small free stretches without on-site facilities: shade, water and seating need to be brought from home.

Lifeguards and accessibility

At Parco Pavese, the lifeguard service is commissioned by the Comune; the other stretches are included in the coast's collective plans. The regional ordinance makes it compulsory from the third weekend in May to the third in September: in 2026, from 16 May to 20 September, from 9.30am to 6.30pm. In other months, the free beaches have no lifeguards.

Parco Pavese and the canal harbour stretch have step-free access from the seafront. Opposite Parco Pavese, the 2026 municipal ordinance also provides for an accessible free beach.

Dogs: summer rules and winter season

Bellaria Igea Marina's free beaches have no dog areas. For the 2026 summer season, until 2 November, ordinanza comunale 123/2026 allowed dogs to swim only opposite beach establishments with a designated animal area and a buoy-marked stretch of water, from 6am to 8am and from 7pm to 9pm, with dogs on a lead until entering the water and again on leaving it.

The regional summer-season ban does not apply to rescue dogs or guide dogs; following notification to the Comune, dogs on leads accompanying people with disabilities or involved in pet therapy are also exempt. The winter season runs from 3 November 2026 to the Saturday before Easter 2027: the regional ban does not apply, and the municipal ordinance, valid only for the summer season, sets no rules on dogs on the beach.

Sea and connections with the town

For 2026, the Rio Pircio water, which includes the Parco Pavese area, is classified as excellent; the two waters on either side of the Uso's mouth are good. During the monitoring season, sample results and any temporary bans are published on the Arpae bathing water portal.

Viale Pinzon is the common landmark for the three groups of access points. The shared cycle and pedestrian path along the seafront follows part of the Igea Marina coast; arrival from outside town and connections with the station are covered in the Bellaria Igea Marina guide.

The Bellaria Igea Marina beach page explains the division of the coast on either side of the Uso and the differences between breakwaters and seafronts.
