The pinewoods and the seafront make it possible to do sport in Cervia without leaving the coast. Cycling also leads towards Ravenna and the Po Delta area; facilities and events serve disciplines with more specific needs. The main competitions fall between late March and April and in September.
Running between beach and pinewood
Lungomare Deledda, Lungomare D'Annunzio and the Pinarella and Tagliata areas are good places for walking and running near the sea. In the pinewoods, surfaces change and paths pass among trees, offering a route different from the avenues.
On the beach, beach volleyball, beach tennis and other activities use designated courts, mainly during the bathing season.
Two cycling itineraries
Cervia Verde is a flat 24 km itinerary crossing the coastal area and pinewoods. Cervia Oro instead heads towards Ravenna over 58 km: a long outing, very different from a seafront ride.
For Cervia Oro, the return from Ravenna can be by train. The Savio area and the corridor towards Cesena add other routes, described by the tourism portal and Ente Parco with different lengths and return points. Destinations are gathered in excursions from Cervia.
Facilities
Centro Sportivo Liberazione, at 66 Via Pinarella, brings together a sports hall, athletics track and indoor bocce facility, with spaces for other disciplines. The municipal pool is at 1 Via Val d'Isère and offers indoor activities according to its programme.
Stadio dei Pini Germano Todoli is in Milano Marittima, at 61 Viale Ravenna. The sport in Milano Marittima guide also describes pinewood and Canalino options.
Sombrero skatepark, 800 square metres on Via Isonzo in Parco Aldo Spallicci, is approved for national roller sports competitions; access is restricted to members.
Running, cycling and triathlon
The competition season opens in late March with Cervia Run, a road-running weekend starting and finishing on Lungomare Deledda, with routes between Cervia, Pinarella and Milano Marittima (22 and 23 March 2025, 21 and 22 March 2026). Between late March and early April, Granfondo Via del Sale brings around 3,000 cyclists, starting and finishing on Lungomare Deledda: its 28th edition ran from 4 to 6 April 2025, its 29th on 29 March 2026.
September is triathlon month. On the third weekend, Ironman Emilia-Romagna, a long-distance triathlon in Cervia since 2017, crosses sea, roads and land into the hinterland, followed the next day by the middle-distance 70.3: from 17 to 20 September in 2026, with 6,500 registered athletes. The final weekend hosts the Italian sprint triathlon championships, supported by the Comune until 2027 (over 4,000 athletes in 2025). Around the same dates, Centro Sportivo Liberazione hosts Festa dello Sport della Consulta comunale, with its 14th edition on 26 and 27 September 2026.
During competitions, road arrangements and access along routes change under Comune ordinances. Other annual events are in events in Cervia.
