Museums in Rimini

Fellini Museum

Fellini Museum is Comune di Rimini's multi-site museum devoted to Federico Fellini. Its route covers Castel Sismondo, Palazzo del Fulgor and Piazza Malatesta: two indoor venues and an urban space. The museum follows the director's imagination through films, characters, costumes and working materials.

The castle's sixteen rooms

At Castel Sismondo, the exhibition passes through sixteen rooms of the Malatesta fortress. Themes include Giulietta Masina, Rimini's sea, La dolce vita, film costumes and Libro dei sogni. The route uses the historic architecture without being limited to a biographical chronology.

This venue opened to the public in August 2021; Palazzo del Fulgor followed in December of the same year.

Fulgor and Piazza Malatesta

Palazzo del Fulgor faces Corso d'Augusto. On the ground floor is the cinema where Fellini saw his first films: its screenings follow a separate programme from the museum.

In Piazza Malatesta, the shallow water reflects the perimeter of the old moat. The mist recalls the Rex passing in Amarcord and connects the outdoor space to the cinematic story.

Planning a visit

The two indoor venues have different hours: Castel Sismondo opens in the morning and afternoon, Palazzo del Fulgor continuously, and both close on Mondays unless a public holiday. A full-price ticket costs €10. Admission is free up to and including age 30, for Provincia di Rimini residents, for people with disabilities and on a visitor's birthday; on Tuesdays from 4pm, with Fellini film screenings at Cinemino, Palazzo del Fulgor is also free.

The guided visit at 11am on the first Sunday of the month covers only Castel Sismondo: it lasts about 45 minutes, is conducted in Italian and costs €8.

The museum is about 13 minutes' walk from Rimini station and is a stop on a route through Rimini's monuments.
