In Gabicce Mare, a few kilometres separate the beach from San Bartolo climbs. The Tavollo area offers a low-level route; towards Gabicce Monte, gradients, surfaces and exposure to traffic change. The resort is known for cycle tourism, with its main events at Easter and in May.
On the beach and along the Tavollo
The beach offers games and sand courts, including beach volleyball in designated areas. Canoeing, SUP and sailing are offered by authorised schools and hire operators.
Gabicce Mare is in the Marche: sea rules follow the beach safety ordinance of Capitaneria di porto di Pesaro, rather than those of neighbouring Romagna municipalities.
The Tavollo cycle and pedestrian path, inaugurated in 2023, runs from Via del Cardellino to the Viale della Vittoria gardens. It offers riverside travel linking parts of the built-up area, different from the Panoramica climbs. The harbour area is also a landmark for walks between Gabicce and Cattolica.
Cycling towards Gabicce Monte
The road climbing to Gabicce Monte leads to Panoramica del San Bartolo. The route continues between slopes and sea views, climbing and descending on a road shared with other vehicles. Curva Pantani is a landmark for cycling enthusiasts.
Gabicce Monte requires only the initial climb; continuing on the Panoramica towards Pesaro extends the ride through ups and downs and coastal views.
Walking in the park
The San Bartolo network includes routes of different lengths. Trail 157 links Chiesa del Palazzo and Gabicce Monte over around 3.3 km. Trail 151, the park's main path, crosses the whole of San Bartolo between Pesaro and Gabicce Mare: around 19 km of hiking, almost four hours' walking.
The Ente Parco website publishes the trail map and access notices: clifftop paths and descents towards the sea may be closed. Alternatives towards the villages are explored in excursions from Gabicce Mare.
Sports grounds and events
Stadio Giuseppe Magi is on Via Aldo Moro. The same area has spaces for other sports and school activities, also hosting youth football tournaments.
During Easter week, Gabicce Mare hosts Settimana Cicloturistica Internazionale, seven days of bike outings towards hinterland villages; in mid-May, Granfondo Squali, an amateur race starting in Cattolica, takes cyclists onto Panoramica del San Bartolo as far as Gabicce Monte. Other annual events are listed under events in Gabicce Mare.
