Sport in Riccione

Swimming, athletics and team sports have clear reference points in Riccione at Centro Nicoletti and other town facilities. Outdoor activities can follow the seafront or leave the coast to climb towards inland villages.

Stadio del Nuoto and Centro Nicoletti

Centro sportivo Italo Nicoletti is at 15 Viale Forlimpopoli. It includes a stadium, athletics track, tennis courts and facilities for other disciplines. Stadio del Nuoto, at 60 Via Monte Rosa, has an indoor 50-metre Olympic pool.

Stadio del Nuoto also hosts national competitions, mainly between March and July: over 105 competition days in 2026, from Criteria to the April national championships. Public swimming and courses follow the facility's programme.

Playhall, at 24 Viale Carpi, hosts indoor sports and events. Pista Giardini, on Viale Milano, is devoted to skating and is used differently from walking and cycling paths.

Beach activities

Beach tennis and beach volleyball take place on designated courts. Water activities, from sailing to SUP, take place with authorised schools and clubs.

For running near the beach, Lungomare della Libertà links the harbour area to Piazzale Roma. It keeps to the land route, while the beach has its own spaces and uses, described in the Riccione beach guide.

On Lungomare della Libertà, bicycle and pedestrian spaces are separate. In the northern part, Lungomare Goethe is intended for strolling; Viale D'Annunzio is the cycling route.

To the south, Lungomare del Sole, around 1.7 km from Viale Torino to the Misano Adriatico boundary, is being refurbished to become part of Ciclovia Adriatica, with new pavements and a cycle path: the Comune expects completion in spring 2027.

For a hinterland road outing, Saludecio, Mondaino and Montefiore Conca introduce climbs and longer distances. Villages and routes are explored in excursions from Riccione.

Sports events

The season opens in late March with StraRiccione, a 10 km town running race starting and finishing on Piazzale Ceccarini (46th edition on 29 March 2026). In April, around Easter, Beachline Festival, an international beach volleyball festival established in 1997, sets up over 200 courts on the beach between the harbour and Marano area, with its main court on Piazzale Azzarita: from 6 to 12 April in 2026, with over 1,500 athletes.

In mid-September, Memorial Marco Pantani, a professional cycling race, starts on Viale Ceccarini and finishes in Cesenatico (12 September 2026); around the same time, Ricc10ne Sunset Run, a 10 km sunset race, starts on Piazzale Roma (third edition on 19 September 2026). Festival del Sole brings displays to public spaces; other dates are listed under events in Riccione.
