Rimini's free beaches are spread between Torre Pedrera and Miramare. Piazzale Boscovich beside the canal harbour on the south side is the landmark for an area with services. In other districts, stretches of beach between concessions predominate: finding them requires the area name and neighbouring establishment numbers.
Where free access points are located
Rimini Turismo distinguishes equipped Boscovich beach from unequipped stretches, also called frustoli, which have access walkways and lifeguard service. The beach establishment number serves only to locate the access point.
| Area | Free area landmark |
|---|---|
| San Giuliano Mare | From the marina to former beach establishment 10 |
| Rivabella | From the north side of Deviatore del Marecchia to beach establishment 1 |
| Viserbella and Torre Pedrera, at the boundary | Between beach establishments 57 and 58, opposite the holiday colony |
| Torre Pedrera | Between beach establishments 71 and 72; from 76 to the Bellaria boundary |
| Canal harbour, south side | Piazzale Boscovich, before beach establishment 1 |
| Bellariva | Between beach establishments 94 and 95 |
| Marebello | Between 105 and 106; between 107 and 108 opposite the former Colonia Enel area |
| Rivazzurra | Area behind beach establishments 109 and 110 |
| Miramare | Between 139 and 140; from 150 to Talassoterapico; from the Aeronautica area to the Riccione boundary; opposite Colonia Bolognese |

Northern coastal numbering is separate from southern numbering. The same number can therefore indicate two different places; Rimini beach areas explains orientation in relation to the harbour.
Boscovich and Spiaggia Libera Tutti
At Piazzale Boscovich, the free beach is immediately south of the canal harbour. The Comune portal lists toilets, showers and entrance routes. Its position near the pier makes it recognisable without relying only on beach establishment numbers.
Here Spiaggia Libera Tutti provided services from 15 June to 13 September 2026, opening from 7.30am to 7.30pm. The programme included accessible routes, beach wheelchairs, assisted swimming and sixteen gazebos on platforms reserved for people with disabilities and companions. Booking applied to dedicated spaces and assistance, while beach access remained free.
What to bring and which services to expect
At unequipped access points, shade and seating need to be brought from home: the portal lists only access walkways and lifeguard service. Toilets, showers and entrance routes are at Boscovich.
Lifeguard cover has a different calendar from the accessibility project: ordinanza comunale 1/2026 provided for it from 16 May to 20 September, from 9.30am to 6.30pm. In other months, free beaches have no lifeguards.
Shore passage and beach rules
The strip along the water remains for passage, including in front of concessions. In the 2026 municipal ordinance, it measures 5 metres in northern Rimini and 20 metres in southern Rimini, from beach establishment 1 to the Riccione boundary. It is not the space for setting up a parasol: people settle in the designated free area on the sand.
The same measure prohibits ordinary beach access from 1am to 5am, with exceptions for authorised activities and persons. It also prohibits smoking along the waterline and in concessions, except permitted smoking areas, and allows bicycles onto the beach only when wheeled by hand.
Dogs: summer and the rest of the year
Rimini's free beaches have no dog areas. During the summer season, from the Saturday before Easter to 2 November, the regional ordinance bans animals on the beach, except rescue dogs, guide dogs and dogs accompanying people with disabilities. In 2026, the municipal ordinance of 11 May allowed dogs to swim only in marked waters opposite equipped establishments, at times listed on the Rimini beach page.
For the rest of the year, from 3 November to the Saturday before Easter, dogs can go on the beach on a lead or muzzled, and their waste must be collected immediately.

Harbour, river mouths and temporary bans
Swimming is prohibited at the Deviatore del Marecchia mouth and canal harbour entrance, including off nearby free beaches; signs indicate prohibited waters.
Heavy rain may lead to temporary swimming bans. During the monitoring season, sample results and current bans are published on the Arpae bathing water portal.
Arrival by bus and seafront walks
Piazzale Boscovich is the arrival landmark for the harbour beach. Northern free beaches are on Start Romagna route 4, which stops in Rivabella, Viserba, Viserbella and Torre Pedrera from Rimini; San Giuliano Mare is served by route 2. Southern beaches are on route 11, with stops in Marina Centro, Bellariva, Marebello and Miramare.
Seafront routes allow time on the sand to be combined with a walk through the Parco del Mare areas. Transport links, the historic centre and travel planning are covered in the Rimini guide. The Riviera Romagnola beaches overview compares this coast with nearby resorts.
