Gabicce Mare

Shopping in Gabicce Mare

The Gabicce Mare market takes place on Thursday mornings throughout the year in Piazza Aldo Moro, in the Ponte Tavollo area. Shops in the centre are spread between Via Cesare Battisti and Piazza Matteotti. The small markets at the harbour and in Gabicce Monte are summer events.

Piazza Aldo Moro on Thursdays

The market area is outside the seafront core. The regulations distinguish a summer layout, from May to September, and a winter layout, from October to April, with different numbers of pitches.

The measures set limits for setting up and closing: stalls must be operating by 8.30am and close by 2pm, or 2.30pm in summer. Notices from the Comune govern changes on public holidays.

On Tuesday mornings, the farmers' market is in Case Badioli, in Via dell'Artigianato, in the industrial area's car park, separate from Thursday's mixed market.

Small markets between harbour and Monte

In summer, Via del Porto hosts stalls selling crafts, objects and collectors' items. In the 2026 programme, these took place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until 4 September. In Gabicce Monte, the market occupied Piazza Valbruna on Sunday evenings in July and August.

Other evening displays took place in Via Vittorio Veneto. There are no regular evening markets outside summer.

Piazza Municipio also hosts markets associated with events, including those devoted to local produce, vintage goods or children. Upcoming editions and the Christmas period are listed in the Gabicce Mare events calendar.

Via Battisti and Piazza Matteotti

Via Cesare Battisti and Piazza Matteotti contain some of the centre's shops, near Lungomare Cristoforo Colombo. The latter is pedestrianised throughout the year; further restrictions apply to nearby streets in summer.

Marche flavours near the border

Gabicce Mare belongs to the Marche. Its territory lies within the production area of Colli Pesaresi DOC wines and Marche IGP extra virgin olive oil; Casciotta d'Urbino DOP and Formaggio di Fossa di Sogliano DOP are also produced in the province of Pesaro e Urbino. Home cooking is described in the guide to where to eat in Gabicce Mare.

The production area of Piadina Romagnola IGP, by contrast, includes the municipalities of the provinces of Rimini, Forlì-Cesena and Ravenna and nine municipalities in the Bologna area, as far as the Sillaro: Gabicce Mare lies outside it. The administrative border follows the Tavollo: beyond the harbour, the Saturday market and Mercato Coperto are described in shopping in Cattolica. The guide to shopping on the Riviera compares other market days along the coast.
