Cervia

Shopping in Cervia

In Cervia, the year-round market takes place on Thursday mornings in Piazza Andrea Costa and nearby streets. In Pinarella, the day is Tuesday, in Piazzale Premi Nobel and Via Quasimodo. For shops, small markets and local produce, the historic centre and Borgomarina offer another route, also linked to the history of salt.

Thursdays in Cervia, Tuesdays in Pinarella

Cervia's market extends into Via Bonaldo, Via Bertoni and Via Nazario Sauro. From May to September, it also includes Piazzale dei Salinari near the canal harbour area.

On Thursdays, stalls open at 8am and trade throughout the morning.

Evening markets follow the summer season. Tagliata's 2026 market was a trial on the stretch of Viale Italia between Viale Sicilia and Via Lomellina. The guide to shopping in Milano Marittima covers the neighbouring resort's avenues and summer market.

The year-round market calendar lists changes and additional markets: one is scheduled for Sunday 27 December in 2026.

Small markets and fairs

Cervia a lume di candela, Curiosando and Borgomarina Vetrina di Romagna animate the centre and harbour in summer, respectively with crafts, antiques and Romagna produce. Pinarella and Tagliata have other events on their avenues.

Mercato Europeo takes place in September. Verde Mercato, a fair of plants, flowers and herbal products, has two editions in the historic centre: in May during Cervia Città Giardino, and in mid-October at the close of the garden season. The 2026 editions fall on 22-24 May and 17-18 October; meetings and workshops appear in the calendar of Cervia fairs.

Buying salt

Cervia salt is the product associated with the town's salt pans. The name sweet salt refers to its characteristics, not the presence of sugar; its use in cooking is described in the guide to where to eat in Cervia. Places to buy it are the salt pan's shop and visitor centre, each with its own opening times.

Salina Camillone preserves hand harvesting, and the Slow Food presidium refers to the salt produced here.

Between squares and Borgomarina

Piazza Garibaldi, Piazzetta Pisacane and Corso Mazzini provide a route through the centre's businesses and historic spaces. Via Nazario Sauro leads towards Borgomarina and the Magazzini del Sale; Viale Roma links this area with the route towards the sea.

Days, neighbourhoods and market types vary across the municipal territory. The guide to shopping on the Riviera compares these events with those in other coastal resorts.
