Cervia

Entertainment in Cervia

Piazza Garibaldi and Borgo Marina are two evening landmarks in Cervia. The centre hosts shows and public activities, the canal harbour provides a walking route, while Pinarella and Tagliata have activities in their own spaces. From autumn to spring, Teatro comunale Walter Chiari and the museums offer indoor options.

The centre and Borgo Marina

Piazza Garibaldi is in front of Palazzo Comunale. In summer, it is the stage for concerts and festivities in the centre, including the departure of the Sposalizio del Mare procession; it is also a starting point for exploring the historic centre.

Borgo Marina retains its connection with fishermen's houses and the canal harbour. A waterside walk can be combined with dinner; the where to eat in Cervia guide presents local products and dining areas.

Pinarella and Tagliata offer other landmarks for summer evenings. Parco dei Gemelli in Tagliata has hosted dancing and cabaret evenings; Pinarella's squares and avenues host family activities.

Theatre and cinema

Teatro comunale Walter Chiari, on Via XX Settembre, is the main venue for the theatre season. In summer 2026, the Comune began restoring the interiors, with completion expected in early October and the winter season confirmed: the 2026-2027 season begins on 27 October 2026 and runs until April 2027, with plays, comedy, tales for younger audiences and the Teatri d'inverno series.

Summer cinema brings screenings outdoors. CinemaSuono, the festival of the Comune's Scambiamenti cultural space, accompanies films and silent cinema with live music on Monday evenings in July in Piazzale dei Salinari: its tenth edition in 2026 had four evenings from 6 to 27 July.

Music, festivals and sport

Sposalizio del Mare has been celebrated in Cervia since 1445, on Ascension Sunday: after the blessing of the ring in Piazza Garibaldi, the historic procession reaches the canal harbour, and the ring is thrown into the sea from the boats. In 2025 it fell on 1 June; in 2026, for its 582nd edition, on 16 and 17 May.

Notte Rosa in June, summer concerts in Piazza Garibaldi and the San Lorenzo fireworks on 10 August add other opportunities for entertainment. Ironman Emilia-Romagna in September and the other triathlons involve the sea, roads and local facilities: details are on the sport in Cervia page, while the events page presents the calendar of festivities and event series.

A visit connected with salt or the pinewood

MUSA, Museo del Sale presents the history of work in the salt pan. Salina Camillone adds the connection with the landscape and traditional salt harvesting; the full picture is on the Cervia salt and salt pans page.

In Pinarella and Tagliata, Parco Lento is an outdoor option for children. In the Milano Marittima area are Casa delle Farfalle and CerviAvventura, both open from spring to early autumn.

Outside the bathing season

Exhibitions, theatre and activities in the centre continue after summer. On 6 January, Tuffo della Befana brings hundreds of people in swimwear into the sea from Tagliata beach: in 2025 and 2026, the start was at 3pm.

The Cervia with children guide is available for age-appropriate activities. Options for entertainment in nearby Milano Marittima and entertainment on the Riviera complete the comparison of walks, shows and attractions.
