Cattolica
Cattolica with children
In Cattolica, a day with children can alternate beach time, parks and an Acquario visit. Museo della Regina adds archaeology and maritime heritage in the town centre, while the library and theatre offer other family programmes. Activities are in different areas: accommodation choice and visit calendars help with planning travel.
Beach and services for young children
Cattolica beach stretches for just over two kilometres between the harbour on the Tavollo and the Conca mouth: fine sand, a gently sloping seabed and breakwaters parallel to the coast off Levante and Ponente. In the water, flags and instructions from lifeguards apply during the lifeguard season.
Games, entertainment, changing tables and rest spaces vary between establishments. The Cattolica beach page explores services and rules.
The Cattolica free beaches page identifies stretches for a stop with personal equipment. In summer 2026, from July to late August, the library brought Nati per Leggere readings for children up to 6 onto the sand, including the free beach between establishments 42 and 44.
The Acquario and its routes
Acquario di Cattolica occupies the former Le Navi holiday colony buildings, on the seafront towards the Misano Adriatico boundary. The blue, green and yellow routes present different environments and animals; the marine route includes sharks and penguins.
The main routes and insect exhibition are indoors, while Il Mondo dei Dinosauri is outdoors and opens April to September: on rainy days and in winter, visits take place inside the buildings.
After summer, the Acquario opens on selected days between autumn and the Christmas holidays; its guide gives the calendar and practical visit information.
Parco della Pace and town walks
Parco della Pace is Cattolica's town park near the centre, with a pond, paths, play areas and a skating rink.
The 2026 refurbishment covered walkways and 70 benches and added self-cleaning toilets, a bowls court and six new items of play equipment for young children: two swings, including an inclusive basket swing, a spring rider, a roundabout, a rocker and another inclusive play item. The Comune scheduled the opening of the renewed areas for Saturday 17 October 2026, with Festa della Pace.
Parco Alberto Manzi, on Via Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, is dedicated to the teacher and educator and opened on 21 April 2026. Cattolica schoolchildren created it, with a wild herb garden and drawings on the tarmac; panels with Manzi's scientific materials and QR codes link to videos of his activities. For a seaside walk, Piazza Primo Maggio offers Fontana delle Sirene as a recognisable landmark.
Museo della Regina
Museo della Regina is at 23 Via Giovanni Pascoli. Its two sections explore the area from complementary perspectives: archaeological finds document the Bronze Age and Roman period, while maritime heritage covers boats, fishing and coastal community life.
The Comune specifies free admission and step-free access. For a family, the museum is an indoor option in the centre, far from the Acquario on the northern seafront. Visit duration can follow children's interest in the objects and themes displayed.
Library, workshops and theatre
The library is in Centro culturale polivalente in Piazza della Repubblica and is a reference point for reading and children's activities. On the same square at number 15, LaVoratorio di educazione all'immagine offers three afternoons a month of free art and nature workshops from October 2026 for ages 5 to 10, requiring registration. The district's Centro per le Famiglie publishes a monthly programme of free activities by reservation.
In winter, nearby Teatro della Regina, the municipal theatre, devotes one Sunday a month at 4.30pm to children's and family performances, from November to March. In the 2026-27 season, dates are 22 November and 13 December 2026, and 17 January, 14 February and 14 March 2027. Town series and events are explored on the Cattolica events page.
A day between the centre and sea
The Acquario is on the seafront towards Misano Adriatico, while Museo della Regina, the library, LaVoratorio and the squares are in the centre: a day can be divided between the coast and an afternoon in town.
Arrival and local travel are covered in the Cattolica guide. Nearby Gabicce Mare with children adds a walk below the hill; the Riviera with children page compares other coastal possibilities.
