Cesenatico

Entertainment in Cesenatico

The canal harbour and Piazza Andrea Costa are two different starting points for entertainment in Cesenatico. The first links a walk with boats and the historic centre; the second opens towards the beach and Viale Carducci. In summer, the Comune brings music and theatre outdoors; in winter, Teatro Comunale, Cinema Rex and harbour festivities remain.

Evenings by the harbour and in seaside districts

The canal harbour quays offer walks among historic boats, houses and places to pause. Dinner can be part of the route: the where to eat in Cesenatico page distinguishes flavours and areas.

Piazza Costa and Viale Carducci are the landmarks for the seaside area. In summer, entertainment and evening markets also involve Valverde, Villamarina, Ponente and Zadina, with days and streets varying between districts: the calendar is on the shopping in Cesenatico page.

Open-air theatre and music

Teatro Comunale, on Via Mazzini, is a nineteenth-century building by the canal harbour. The winter season includes plays, music, dialect theatre and shows for young people; in summer, the programme moves outdoors.

Ribalta Marea is the Comune's summer music and performance series, mainly at the open-air theatre in Largo Cappuccini, with evenings also at Parco di Ponente, Piazza Spose dei Marinai and the municipal stadium. In 2025 it ran from 19 June to 23 August, and in 2026 from 3 July to 23 August.

Notturni alle Conserve brings classical music to Piazza delle Conserve, beside the historic icehouses, on Tuesday evenings at 9pm from late June to mid-August. Admission is free, and in rain the concert moves to Teatro Comunale; in 2026 there were eight concerts, from 30 June to 18 August.

In winter, cinema is at Cinema Rex, the auditorium in Palazzo del Turismo at 112 Viale Roma, which the Comune reopens from November to spring: the 2025-2026 season ran from 5 November to 22 April.

Art and sport on the beach

Tende al Mare consists of painted canvases placed in summer on the free beach opposite Piazza Costa. They began in 1998 from an idea by Dario Fo, to whom the 2026 edition was dedicated, displayed from late June to early September for the centenary of his birth.

In the same area, Cesenatico Beach Arena hosts beach volleyball, beach tennis and footvolley, with training sessions and events open to the public. Courts, competitions and other facilities are described on the sport in Cesenatico page.

On the first weekend in August, Festa di Garibaldi brings Palio della Cuccagna to the canal harbour and fireworks to the beach at Piazza Costa; on 14 August, the eve of Ferragosto, the fishermen's cooperative organises the rustida in the Mercato Ittico forecourt. Programmes and venues for other festivals are collected in Cesenatico events.

The harbour in other seasons

In late October, the canal harbour hosts Il pesce fa festa, the Comune's free-entry autumn festival with traders' associations: from 29 October to 2 November in 2026. From late November to Epiphany, Presepe della Marineria, established in 1986, occupies the floating museum's boats; the 2026-2027 edition runs from 29 November to 10 January.

Museo della Marineria allows a walk to be combined with a visit to the museum section. The guide to Cesenatico with children is available for families; nightlife options are on the evenings in Cesenatico page. Entertainment on the Riviera helps compare other resorts.
