Cesenatico

Cesenatico with children

Cesenatico with children offers a progression from the beach to Giardini al Mare, then to traditional boats on the canal harbour. Parco di Levante and Parco di Ponente offer larger spaces for walking and play. Museo della Marineria and the library complete the day with indoor activities, while at Christmas Presepe della Marineria lights up the canal harbour boats.

Play near the beach and green parks

Giardini al Mare is the green belt between the Levante beach establishments and Viale Carducci. Play areas alternate with walking and cycling paths: their location combines a green stop with a day on the sand, without planning a trip outside the beach area.

Parco di Levante, on Viale Cesare Abba, offers a larger setting with lawns, trees and two small lakes. The municipal tourism portal lists two play areas and picnic spaces, linked by paths suitable for walking or cycling. Ducks, geese and turtles are among the wildlife listed in the lakes.

The choice can follow the accommodation area: a stay in Ponente or Zadina puts a park nearby without crossing the canal harbour. The excursions from Cesenatico page explores routes beyond a simple play stop.

The beach and children's services

The coast is sandy and slopes towards the sea. Play areas, entertainment, changing tables and pushchair aids vary between establishments.

In the water, flags and instructions from lifeguards, present during the lifeguard season, apply. The Cesenatico beach page distinguishes areas, services and rules.

For a stay with personal beach equipment, the stretches described in Cesenatico free beaches are available. Zona Cesarini, in Villamarina, also includes a children's space according to the municipal tourism listing.

The canal harbour boats

The floating section of Museo della Marineria can be viewed freely from the canal harbour quay. Traditional boats tell the story of fishing and work on the Adriatic, providing a tangible reference even for a short visit: hull shapes and equipment help explain a harbour that preserves its history.

The boats can be viewed free of charge from the quay, without going aboard; admission to the museum rooms is charged.

Museo della Marineria and workshops

The land-based section is at 18 Via Armellini, opposite the boats on the water. The exhibition explores what is visible in the harbour through boats and maritime equipment. Educational activities, when scheduled, can accompany a visit to the rooms.

From October 2026, the museum opens on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; schools and groups can book special openings. The combined ticket also includes the Antiquarium and Casa Moretti, with a reduced rate for ages 6 to 18 and a family package; children under 6 enter free.

The museum organises family visits and workshops in every season. In summer 2026, it offered Tuesday evening workshops for children aged 5 to 12, on reservation; at Christmas, children's workshops take place between the museum and Casa Moretti.

A stop at the library

The municipal library, on Piazza Ciceruacchio, has two connecting ground-floor areas: one for children aged 0 to 8 and one for ages 9 to 16. Board books, picture books, fiction, comics and manga offer different reading choices for each age.

The space for younger children includes small tables, rugs and cushions; the library also has board games. It offers an indoor stop even without a scheduled event, during library opening hours.

Piazza delle Conserve and seasonal events

Piazza delle Conserve adds a stop to the central route: the brick structures recall how fish was preserved before modern refrigeration. The name can provide a starting point for a short explanation linked to boats and fishermen's work.

Since 1986, at Christmas, Presepe della Marineria has brought life-size statues to the historic canal harbour boats, with free admission. The 2026-27 edition, the fortieth, is scheduled from 29 November 2026 to 10 January 2027. Markets, programmes in the squares and other family events are listed in events in Cesenatico.

A day can combine canal harbour, museum and library, all linked to the centre, or focus on beach and parks around the accommodation area. The Cesenatico guide gathers transport and other visits; the Riviera with children page compares options in nearby resorts.
