Riccione

Riccione with children

Riccione with children offers days on the sand, games in public parks and sea-related visits, from Oltremare's dolphins to Fondazione Cetacea's turtles. The museum and library add out-of-season activities. The choice depends mainly on age and available time: a stop at a park requires different planning from a day among pools and slides.

The beach with the family

The sandy coast and shallow water are among the features described by the municipal tourism portal. Beach establishments offer play areas and, in some cases, entertainment and services for young children, with ages and times varying between establishments.

In July and August, the library and Museo del Territorio bring interactive readings and workshops under the parasols with Storia e storie in spiaggia, which reached its twelfth edition in 2026. The Riccione beach page describes coastal areas and lifeguard cover; the free beaches page identifies access points for a day with personal equipment.

In the water, flags and lifeguards' instructions apply during the lifeguard season. Outside the season, the beach remains a destination for walking and playing on the sand.

Public parks for play and walks

Green spaces allow the beach to alternate with an afternoon in town. Some mainly suit free play, others a walk among trees or an organised activity.

At Arboreto, the educational garden, with sensory trails and shaded rest areas, is freely accessible at no charge. It also contains a paid adventure park with aerial courses and an area of tree houses that children explore without harnesses, protected by nets.

Giardini dell'Alba, on Via Cilea, is a roof garden with paths, water features and earth play features, also accessible by lift. Since 1 October 2026, the Comune has been renewing its lighting, greenery and seating, with completion announced by the end of the year.

Theme parks: water, animals and minigolf

Aquafan and Oltremare are on the hill. Aquafan is devoted to pools and slides and includes children's areas; Oltremare offers a route through animals, natural environments and educational activities. The two nearby parks cater to different interests.

On the coast, Beach Village offers pools and slides; Indiana Golf is an option for those who prefer minigolf. The attraction guides collect practical information for planning each visit.

Aquafan and Beach Village open only in summer. Oltremare also opens on some autumn days and during the Christmas period, listed in the guide's calendar.

Fondazione Cetacea's turtles

Fondazione Cetacea cares for sea turtles in difficulty. The rescue centre can only be visited on a guided tour booked in advance, daily in summer and Monday to Friday in winter: an opportunity to learn about the animals and the work before their return to the sea.

The Fondazione also organises workshops for young people and releases recovered turtles into the sea at the end of their rehabilitation.

Museum and library, including in autumn

Museo del Territorio and the municipal library are at Centro della Pesa, 10 Viale Lazio. The museum offers activities introducing history through materials and actions; the library combines reading with events for children and families.

In autumn, the museum resumes Domeniche al museo for families, free workshops requiring booking and devoted to Bronze Age life, including weaving, pottery and outdoor activities in the Centro della Pesa garden; in 2026, they took place on three Sundays in October.

Also in autumn, the library resumes Storie tra le nuvole, free interactive readings on Friday afternoons for children aged 3 to 9, led by volunteer readers.

Events and planning the day

Riccione Family City brings the Comune's family activities together in an annual calendar, from beach readings to shows in parks and districts. Festivals and series are collected on the Riccione events page.

The Riccione guide brings transport links together; the Riviera with children page helps compare resorts.
