Shopping in Rimini

On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, Rimini's market occupies the historic centre's squares and streets. For food, Mercato Coperto on Via Castelfidardo also opens Monday to Saturday. Districts have different market days; evening markets are mainly part of the summer programme.

The central market, two mornings a week

Stalls open from 7am to 1pm across Piazzale Gramsci, Piazza Tre Martiri, Corso d'Augusto, Via IV Novembre, Via Dante and Via Castelfidardo, with further areas in the Ex Padane and Clementini car parks. Clothing, household goods and farm produce occupy an extensive route: the square is a landmark rather than the sole venue.

Traffic restrictions on the streets involved extend beyond selling hours to allow setup and clearing. The regulations exclude markets on Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Easter and Easter Monday; on other public holidays, the calendar and any municipal measures apply.

Torre Pedrera also has a non-food market on Sunday mornings in summer. Outside the season, only year-round markets remain.

Mercato Coperto: fish and other food

Mercato centrale coperto San Francesco is at the corner of Via Castelfidardo and Via Michele Rosa. It opens Monday to Saturday from 7am to 7.45pm. Alongside the fish market are fruit and vegetables, meat, bread and cheese: this is a food retail market, distinct from Vecchia Pescheria in Piazza Cavour.

Management passed to the Comune on 1 January 2025; in March 2026, the fruit and vegetable growers' area opened, and the Comune announced refurbishment of the fish market for the second half of 2027.

On Friday mornings from 7am to 1pm, the farmers' market takes place beside the Tiberio car park in Borgo San Giuliano. In Viserba, another covered market is between Via Panzacchi and Via Menotti. The fish market on Via Leurini operates wholesale, with its auction reserved for trade buyers.

Summer evenings

Shopping Night brings the centre to life on Wednesday evenings, with shop openings, crafts and activities at Mercato Coperto. In 2026, the programme ran in summer, from June to early September; Magnèda dinners had their own calendar.

From June to September, district tourism committees organise evening markets along the coast from Torre Pedrera to Miramare, each on a fixed evening of the week. In summer 2026, they were distributed as follows.

Antiques and autumn fairs

Rimini Antiqua brings antiques, twentieth-century collectables and vintage items to Piazza Tre Martiri, Via IV Novembre and part of Corso d'Augusto on the last Sunday of each month, except July and December.

Artigiani al Centro also has daytime events. Autumn and December fairs follow a separate calendar from the weekly market; dates for town activities are on the Rimini events page.

Local products

Piadina Romagnola IGP includes the thinner, wider “alla Riminese” type. Squacquerone di Romagna DOP, Formaggio di Fossa di Sogliano DOP and wines under the Rimini DOC designation are other options for food shopping; recipes and areas are covered in the guide to where to eat in Rimini.

Shopping streets

Corso d'Augusto crosses the centre between Piazza Tre Martiri and Piazza Cavour. Via Garibaldi and Via Gambalunga add other shopping routes; food shops surround Mercato Coperto. On the coast, shopping strolls follow the district avenues instead, from Marina Centro to Miramare and towards northern Rimini.

Opening hours depend on individual businesses and the season. In the historic centre, car access is regulated by restricted traffic zones and pedestrian areas. From the centre, the pedestrian Ponte di Tiberio leads to Borgo San Giuliano; other towns' market days and markets are compared in shopping on the Riviera.
